Joanne Daughtry-----
Ms. Daughtry is currently AD at Kentwood High School. There is no candidate more deserving than Ms. Daughtry for her hard work, dedication, determination, and passion to help high school cheerleading get to the next level in Washington. Joanne has taken a keen interest in helping cheer coaches have a voice in the SPSL, has brought coaches together via meetings to brainstorm ideas, discuss issues, and simply create camaraderie between competing teams. She has been an avid supporter of cheer and the growth and evolution of cheer and treats the individuals in the cheer program as intricate parts of the school, respecting them as athletes as well as spirit leaders. She has happily lent her assistance to other cheer programs, coaches, Athletic Directors, and Advisors, and can often be found at meetings or having phone or e-mail conversations with other athletic directors that have questions regarding cheerleading and its many program facets at the high school level.

2005 Member & Coach of the Year
Coach of the Year is Nancy Garr from Ferndale High School, Kim Kawachi from Kentwood High School, and Erin McIntyre is Member of the Year. All Star Coach of the Year - Terri Manning from Summit Elite.

Nancy Garr-------
Nancy is a colleague, a friend and one of the nicest and most generous people that I have ever known. We met through our love of cheerleading and share our ideas, problems and ways to make it better over the years. Together we collaborated on a book, “Developing a Successful Cheerleading Program.”

You will not find a person who has given as much in the high school arena as her. She coaches cheerleading at Ferndale High School. Her love of cheerleading does not stop there. She has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge in cheer and has attended every possible clinic, conference and certification. Because of her education in the field, she was selected by Washington State Interscholastic Association to teach NFHS rules clinics throughout the state.

Kim Kawachi------
Kim Kawachi has a passion for cheerleading like no one else that I have met. She coaches at both the all star and high school levels. She has brought excitement and fun to many kids in her short history of cheerleading here in the state of Washington. She gives so much to her team and it is obvious how much she loves cheerleading.

I first met Kim when she was coaching Sequoia Junior High cheerleaders. She molded that team into a squad that could and did beat many high school groups in the state. She now coaches Kentwood High School cheer squad…. a team of 30 strong, outstanding cheerleaders due primarily to Kim’s superb coaching skills. She also started and coaches Galaxy South, which is one of the best all-girl groups that I have ever seen. When Galaxy South is at a competition, you know you are in for an eye-popping performance

Erin McIntyre------
Erin McIntyre has been a member of the WSCCA for the past 4 years. During the last 2 years she has been working as one of the Region 3 reps, focusing on the Tacoma schools. She has coached at Wilson HS and Peninsula HS. This year Erin has also helped by taking on the task of food and beverage coordinator along with decoration chair for the annual coaches conference. In this job, she is being mindful of the way people eat and with all the health concerns that people have.

Erin has continually brought forth ideas to make this upcoming conference the best yet. Her ideas are will thought out and aimed at making sure that the cheerleading coaches in the state of Washington have the resources available to them so they can grow and become better coaches.

Erin's love for cheer and the kids involved is very evident in the time and energy that she puts in at getting their coaches more informed. Her goal is to get all the Tacoma schools to send their coaches to conference and have them signed up as members. She begins by building a personal relationship with each coach, talking with them at least once a week if possible, through emailing, phone calls and in some cases visiting them at practices.

Terri Manning------
Terri is selfless in her desire to create opportunities for youth and teens to be successful no matter how talented. She creates a safe harbor for youth by fostering a caring, honest and open environment. Her passion and belief in young people and the sport of cheerleading is inspiring. Terri has touched the lives of many youth. By her encouragement and mentioning she has inspired her team member in such away that they grow up and move on and ,in turn, reach out to other youth as mentors and caring individuals. Terri often reminds me that the kids need to have fun. She constantly tells the cheerleaders that it’s not about winning, rather it’s about doing your best and being your best and learning to be gracious in victory as well and defeat.

Lynn is a truly incredible individual with an unyielding passion and dedication to her team, teammates, and cheer. She spent countless hours leading, guiding and growing the Mt.Si team from being a very new and inexperienced team to being a powerhouse among Co-Ed teams in the State, leading the way in their behavior on AND off the floor, on the sidelines, at school events, or at competitions. Lynn has encouraged her kids to strive for excellence on every level – personal and team – and it has shown over the past couple of years as she built the Mt.Si program from the ground up into being a respected and well-liked team of athletes, competitors, and leaders.

Ronda Thomas-------
For those of you who do not know Ronda Thomas, there truly is only one word to describe her AMAZING!!!
There are so many individuals and teams Ronda has helped along the way, while at the same time she was creating Washington's largest All-Star Competitive Cheer program. Since the beginning in 2001, GC teams have continued to amaze and impress crowds both on and off the floor with their talent, determination, sportsmanship, integrity, and pride! Ronda has maintained Galaxy Cheer to be a true competitive program that focuses on the athleticism, sportsmanship, and excellence of competitive cheer!!

WSCCA’s primary focus is education for coaches and cheerleaders. Sheri is the heart and soul behind this objective. She teaches clinics free throughout the state on safety. Sheri attended the Cheer Forum in Portland and learned that National Federation of High Schools Association adapted American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors Safety Certification for spirit coaches. She became a certifier and now travels throughout Washington and Oregon also teaching AACCA course.

She has attended numerous conferences including National Federation Spirit Coaches Conference last year in Indianapolis at her own expense. Why?
