We are looking for qualified judges to join our Washington State Cheer Judges Association (WSCJA). As a WSCJA Judge you are an “official” with the Washington Officials Association which is under the umbrella of WIAA.

General Requirement:
1. Must be a high school graduate and have some background in cheerleading, dance or tumbling. (two years out of high school to be able to judge the State Championships.
2. Must submit an application to the WSCJA.

3. Must be an Active Member (dues paid in full) and attend the training clinic.

Judges' Training Clinic
1. Must attend the annual judges' clinic

Examination:
1. Must pass a written examination with 80% or better.

Internship/Training For Performance and Safety Technical Judges:
1. Must intern as a performance judge at two competitions before judging on your own.
2. Must intern as a technical judge at three competitions before judging on your own.
3. All score sheets will be turned into the WSCJA Board for evaluation and feedback.
4. If you are already a qualified judge and have at least two years experience, you may start judging after one internship.

Membership:
1. Application Dues: $100.00 per year. This includes
a. NFHS Spirit Rules Book
b. Membership to the Washington Officials' Association (WOA)
c. Training Clinic
d. Web site information which includes your WSCJA Training Manual

WSCJA Judge Philosophy:
1. To be prepared as best we can to evaluate the teams fairly with the goal of education.
2. To respond to the needs of high school cheer teams with integrity, openness, and enthusiasm.
3. To create an atmosphere of respect for all the coaches, judges, students and parents.
4. To reinforce the objectives of the WSCCA, WOA and WIAA.
5. To constantly be willing to become better educated in the art of judging by attending clinics to update knowledge of the rules and regulations.
6. To approach each judging opportunity in a professional manner, by dressing and behaving appropriately.
7. We are committed that through our judging, we will provide a building block with cheer teams to improve their teams.
